Secretome (AHA)

Title: Sex differences in novel viral myocarditis therapeutic: adipose-derived stem cell secretome.

Summary: The goal of this project is to determine if secretome will reduce cardiac inflammation and remodeling by inhibiting inflammatory pathways and that this effect will prevent/reduce progression to DCM in both sexes in our highly translational model. Aim 1 will determine the effect and distribution of ASC-S in a mouse model of viral myocarditis/DCM, stratified according to the sex of the animal and Aim 2) will investigate the role of sex hormones in mediating the protective effect of ASC-S on myocarditis/DCM by conducting gonadectomy ±hormone replacement in male and female mice.
