About Katelyn A Bruno
Dr. Katelyn Bruno is an Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiovascular Medicine with affiliated appointments in the Department of Physiology and Aging and the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. Dr. Bruno is also Deputy Director of the Center of Regenerative Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences with a focus on Molecular and Translational Toxicology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2016 and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Her broad focus includes translational science, cardiology, immunology, toxicology and sex differences. Dr. Bruno is actively involved in organizational and scientific organizations including serving as faculty advisor for the UF RegeneGators student organization and holding committee and leadership roles for societies such as HFSA, FCACC, OSSD and ISCMF.

Research Profile
Dr. Bruno’s graduate research focused on the mechanisms of hormones and endocrine disruptors in myocarditis (inflammatory heart disease). Dr. Bruno continued studying myocarditis during her postdoctoral fellowship focusing on new diagnostics (biomarkers and imaging) and therapeutics for acute myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy. Dr. Bruno is experienced in basic and translational research working with cell culture, animals and patients samples. In addition to her role as a NIAID funded tenure track Assistant Professor studying novel models and mechanisms of both pediatric and adult myocarditis, Dr. Bruno is also Co-Investigator on several internally funded grants and a DoD grant. Dr. Bruno has volunteer roles in several healthcare based non-profits in order to personally connect with the people who are affected by myocarditis and is involved in leadership for several scientific organizations.
